We consider play as the main way for children to learn. Play enriches the global development of children in different areas such as physical, emotional, cognitive, social and language skills. By playing children explore and learn to know the world around them.

Children are the main performers in their own learning. Petits urbains is driven by an open pedagogy focused on active learning. Always on the go, children explore their environment, manipulate the educational materials, interact with their peers, make choices while supervised by our educational staff who are attentive to each child`s needs. The educators provide an individualized approach by suggesting activities, games and adapted materials that meet the needs of each child.

On the active play, educators in our daycare show a democratic style in their interventions. Children are encouraged to share their ideas and opinions concerning their own play, always in an environment where an affectionate and safe relationship is built between children and educator. The child and the adult make choices together where the desires of the child is taken into account without compromising the child’s safety. This style of intervention allows children to find a balance between their desire for freedom and their needs for safety.

We expose children to a bilingual program right from the infant group. We favor the communication in French and encourage the stimulation and learning of English as a second language at the same time.

Our objective : To welcome children to build and explore their own potential in an open and attentive environment ruled by respect, self-esteem, creativity and happiness.
